National Day 2026 | Go Beyond

Commemorating SG61: Saints Put Citizenship into Action Through Community Service and Advocacy
To celebrate Singapore’s 61st National Day, St Andrew’s Junior College (SAJC) suspended regular timetabled lessons to dedicate a full day to community engagement, active citizenship, and advocacy. Aligned with the college’s vision of developing purpose-driven, others-centred Servant Leaders, Saints spent the day putting values into practice across various service sites in Singapore.
The day commenced on campus with a collective celebration. Students and staff gathered for song and dance performance that brought the college community together in celebration.
Deepening Empathy Through Service Learning
Following the morning celebrations, the JC1 cohort moved out to serve with various community partners, including the Central Singapore CDC, Active Ageing Centres, local hospitals, and social service agencies. These outreach sessions provided students with opportunities to interact directly with community members, understand localized needs, and serve with heart and humility.
Concurrently, the JC2 cohort embarked on GiraffesSG, an advocacy initiative organised in collaboration with Central Singapore CDC. Drawing upon their developmental experiences as active citizens, JC2 Saints engaged members of the public in meaningful dialogues regarding pressing social issues. The initiative challenged both students and the public to "stick their necks out for the common good" by committing to small, daily actions that foster social harmony and inclusivity.

The spirit of service and contribution extends beyond today's outreach. A dedicated group of Saints will represent SAJC on the national stage as performers in the National Day Parade (NDP) on 9th August. The college commends their dedication and looks forward to supporting them as they celebrate Singapore's 61st birthday alongside the nation.
Through reflection, service, and advocacy, our Saints continue to show what it means to lead with wisdom, act with courage, and serve with heart: building a stronger, more inclusive home for all.
