JC2 Dialogue session with SMS Mr Tan Kiat How

Pre-University students engaged SMS Tan Kiat How in a two-hour dialogue on key national issues, from eldercare to AI ethics and governance. Read on to find out what was discussed.

The JC2 Dialogue session with Senior Minister of State (SMS), Mr. Tan Kiat How, is part of an engagement platform that allows Pre-University students to deepen their understanding of Singapore’s policy landscape. The session aims to raise awareness of national issues and help students appreciate the rationale behind key government decisions through direct dialogue with public office holders.

Over the course of two hours, students engaged actively with SMS Tan, raising more than 15 thoughtful questions. Discussions revolved around:

  • Support for vulnerable populations – including eldercare and healthcare access

  • AI and digital ethics – focusing on supporting healthcare needs, managing misinformation, and responsible innovation

  • Governance and trust – examining the balance between transparency, regulation, and civil liberties


It was a valuable opportunity for students to reflect on Singapore’s present realities, build a stronger sense of belonging, and express hopes for the nation’s future.
