St. Andrew’s Junior College remains deeply committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and holistic environment where students are developed to think with wisdom, act with courage, and serve with love. We recently concluded our Mental Health and Wellbeing Week, an intentional Student Development Project focused entirely on student wellbeing, mental health awareness, and personal mastery.
A Student-Led Movement for Community Resilience
Anchored by the theme, "I got me, I got you, We got us," the week’s programming brought to life the philosophy that mental wellness is a shared journey. The initiative aimed to equip Saints with the self-awareness to manage their personal wellbeing ("I got me"), the empathy to support their peers ("I got you"), and the collective unity to build a resilient campus ecosystem ("We got us").
Throughout the week, the campus buzzed with a diverse blend of reflective, educational, and physical activities:
Camaraderie and Connection: The week opened with a vibrant Class Unity Showcase and "Let's Connect!" morning assemblies, establishing a strong foundation of belonging and empathy.
Empowering the Cohort: In a significant peer-to-peer effort, our Peer Support Leaders (PSLs) led the JC1 cohort through targeted SLEAD sessions focused on help-seeking efficacy, actively working to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health conversations. PSLs, Saints Advocate, and Mentoring Club also conducted student-led booths to engage the cohort in supporting and encouraging their peers.
Active Celebration: The week culminated in a comprehensive Mental Health Roadshow alongside the Cohort Run at the track, successfully marrying physical health with emotional wellness.
The true success of the "We Got You!" Week lay in its authentic, collaborative execution. The entire project was proudly championed by our Peer Support Leaders (PSLs), Saints Advocates, and Mentoring teams. These student leaders beautifully embodied the core habits of a Saint—desiring to serve their community and daring to act by creating spaces that promote genuine peer care.
Expressing Deep Gratitude to Our Partners
The College also extends its heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated teachers, staff, and external partners who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. In particular, we would like to express our gratitude to Good News Community Services for their invaluable support in facilitating our JC2 assembly and Mental Health Roadshow. Their expertise and presence greatly enriched our students' experience, opening up meaningful pathways for connection and dialogue.Special thanks to Metropolitan YMCA, Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH), SHINE Children and Youth Services, and REACH Community Services for making our Mental Health Roadshow a meaningful experience for our Saints!
Through initiatives like Mental Health and Wellbeing Week, the SAJC family continues to strengthen its lived culture of care, ensuring that our students walk their educational journey with clarity, confidence, and the enduring assurance of being part of One Family Unbroken.
